Biodiversity Month

It’s a celebration of the wild, the wonderful and the vital!

September, and once again, we are back celebrating Biodiversity Month! It’s a chance for communities across Australia to celebrate and protect the incredible variety of plants, animals, and ecosystems that make the Central Tablelands such a special place.

Our region is home to unique and threatened species such as the Regent Honeyeater, Superb Parrot, Purple Copper Butterfly, and the Bathurst Grassland Earless Dragon, as well as significant ecosystems like the Box Gum Grassy Woodlands and even Snow Gum Woodlands. Protecting and restoring these environments is not just about conserving nature—it’s about safeguarding the clean water, fertile soils, pollinators, and natural landscapes that underpin the health and resilience of our farms and communities.

At Central Tablelands Landcare Network, we believe that biodiversity is a regional priority. Together, we can create healthier ecosystems that support both people and wildlife, ensuring that future generations continue to benefit from thriving landscapes and diverse natural habitats.

This Biodiversity Month, we encourage everyone across Bathurst, Cowra, Lithgow, Oberon, Orange, Mudgee and all our small towns and communities between to get involved. Whether it’s planting native trees, caring for our creeks, learning about sustainable practices, or celebrating local wildlife, every action helps strengthen our shared environment.
