Take Action

Did you know you don’t even need to be a memeber of landcare to come to our events?

Being part of Landcare is not just about making a significant impact on the environment, it’s about becoming a part of a community that cares deeply about the land and water resources that sustain us.

Whether you have a little time or a lot, your involvement can help us create healthier and happier ecosystems. Plus you can meet new people, learn new skills, enjoy social activities, and even find employment pathways, all while having fun and giving back to the community and the environment.

Why Join

Landcare is about more than just planting trees. We take care of the land, from the soil to the treetops, and all the life in between. When you join us, you connect with people who care about the environment and making a sustainable future.

For over 30 years, Landcare has been bringing groups and communities together to improve our farms, wildlife, and nature in the central tablelands. We organize events like field days, workshops, and seminars. We also help our groups with getting grants and reporting. Plus, we host events for schools, art shows, and film nights.

Our groups include all kinds of people from big and small landowners to farmers and folks living in our towns and villages. What brings us together is our shared interest in finding better, more eco-friendly ways of doing things. We use new ideas, education, and support to help us make positive changes for the environment.

Connect with People

Loneliness among Australians is described both as an 'epidemic' and as one of the most pressing public health concerns in Australia (Ending Loneliness Together 2022).

A recent study found more than one-third (36%) of Australian adults reported experiencing loneliness at least some of the time in the week (Biddle and Gray 2022).

Nearly 1 in 2 Australians believe people would feel less lonely if they just knew more people (Ending Loneliness Together 2023)

At Landcare we welcome everyone. So why not come to one of our events and meet new people who share similar goals and a passion for caring for our land. We don’t even mind if you’re feeling a bit shy, you could come a film night, take part in a photography competition, or come on a wild flower walk, we have something for everyone.

Care for the environment

We care for environment and it cares for us. Our ecosystems play a important role in maintaining clean air, filtering water, providing food and medicines, diminishing chemical and noise pollution, controlling floods, and bringing down temperatures in our urban areas.

There are many benefits to caring for our environment these include: (Nurtured by nature 2020)

  1. Spending time in natural settings is associated with enhanced cognitive abilities and boosts in mood, mental health, and emotional well-being.

  2. Establishing a sense of connection with nature can yield well-being benefits, irrespective of the amount of time spent outdoors.

  3. Both green spaces (landscapes) and blue spaces (aquatic environments) contribute to well-being improvements.

  4. Biodiverse environments offer a valuable well-being effects, but even urban parks and trees can have positive impacts.
