Regional Landcare Coordinator

Regional Landcare Coordinator

The Regional Landcare Coordinators (RLC) play an important role in growing the effectiveness of the network of Local Coordinators. The RLC supports the Regional Community of Practice (RCOP) which brings people with common interest and purpose together to share and learn. The RCOP provides support to landcare coordinators and volunteers to help foster resilience and build skills to help smaller landcare groups stay connected and support each other in the south east.

The our Regional Community of Practic aims to connect the Landcare with its broader partners and stakeholders by way of an annual Muster of Landcare Networks as well as training and support opportunities for the coordinators and volunteer committees.

Our Current regional landcare coordinator is Claudia Macleay, who is a dedicated professional with an academic background in equine science. She holds a Bachelor of Equine Science, a Bachelor of Science Honors in Equine Nutrition, and a Masters degree in Equine Reproductive Epidemiology. Her journey in the field of equine science reflects a passion for science and a commitment to education.

Before taking on her current role, Claudia gained valuable experience working with the Agricultural Advisory Team at Local Land Services. Here, she collaborated closely with farmers and local landholders, organizing events and providing essential livestock advice. Her expertise also extends to her collaborations with Charles Sturt University, where she contributed to projects in equine pharmacology and sheep feedlot trials. Claudia also has previously worked in the wine industry.

When not working, she enjoys being out bushwalking. wild swimming or casual ride on her horses.

The Central Tablelands Regional Landcare Network (CTRLN) is located in central NSW and covers an area of approximately 31,365 km2. We represent a dynamic collaboration of our five local networks: Watershed Landcare, Central Tablelands, Mid Lachlan Landcare, Little River Landcare, and Lithgow Oberon Landcare.

The CTRLN places a strong emphasis on collaboration and partnership-building. We work closely with fellow Landcare and community groups, local farmers and landholders, government agencies and private industry within our region. This ensures that our initiatives are characterised by cooperation. Our commitment to collaborative engagement allows us to maximise the positive impact of our work and create sustainable outcomes for the wider community and our environment.

Our region is abundant in natural resources, including national parks, culturally significant sites and hosts a rich diversity of native flora and fauna. The Central Tablelands Regional Landcare Network falls predominantly within Wiradjuri Aboriginal country. Agriculturally, the region's diversity adds complexity to its natural resource management. Grazing stands as the most significant land use, followed by irrigated farming, broad-acre crops, and horticultural ventures, including fruit and vegetable cultivation and viticulture.

Our Network recognises that Aboriginal people are the original landcarers of Australia, and we are committed to engaging with our local Aboriginal residents and communities.

This initiative is made possible by the NSW Landcare Enabling
Program. A collaboration of Local Land Services and Landcare
NSW, supported by the NSW Government.
