Celebrate Biodiversity Month with Central Tablelands Landcare and local horticulture expert Dhyan Blore for a practical workshop exploring how to establish and care for a thriving native garden in the Orange region.

About the workshop

Whether you're starting a new garden or looking to improve an existing one, this workshop will provide practical advice to help you create a healthy and flourishing native garden suited to local conditions.

Dhyan will guide participants through the fundamentals of preparing and planting a native garden, including:

• Identifying your soil type and preparing your soil

• Choosing native plants suitable for urban Orange

• Correct planting techniques

• Caring for your garden as it establishes

• Choosing appropriate mulches and fertilisers

• Practical ways to create a more sustainable garden

There will also be plenty of time to ask questions and discuss your own gardening challenges.

About Dhyan Blore

Dhyan is a Landscape Designer, Horticulturist, Ecologist and Sustainability Educator with more than 20 years' experience across horticulture, agriculture, farm forestry and landscaping.

Her experience includes botanic gardens, retail and wholesale nurseries, and the design and installation of rural and residential gardens. Dhyan specialises in water-smart gardening and biodiversity conservation, with a strong focus on practical changes that improve resource conservation.

Biodiversity Boosters

This workshop is one of the first in Central Tablelands Landcare's Biodiversity Boosters workshop series, running throughout 2026–27. The series aims to give community members practical knowledge and skills to increase biodiversity in their own patch – whether large or small.

There is also a separate Creating a Nature Enhancing Garden workshop being held in Orange that afternoon. Participants are welcome to attend one or both sessions.
